Today is my mom's birthday. She would have been 67 years old. She died when she was only 48, one month before her birthday. Too young. She was a really special lady, an amazing mom. I think about her everyday. She inspires me daily, even after 18 years. I am a better mom because of her!
I am so glad my dad is in town this weekend. The girls and I made cupcakes; the whole family we met at the cemetery in Orem for a picnic. It was so nice to all be together as a family! So peaceful. Then, we caravanned up to the cabin in Park City for dinner and good times. We went on a little hike, played games, hula hooped - we even made an afternoon fire! Then, the evening came...I actually thought Jack would go to sleep, was I insane?!? It was like Little House on the Prairie; the Fugals, Drakes and my dad all sleeping practically on top of each other. FINALLY, at 11:00 p.m., I decided to take Jack for a ride in the car. Ang joined me; Dad was just sure we would get lost or hit a moose. Give me a little more credit! Jack fell asleep, we got back safely, and it was lights out for the rest of the night. Mike and Dad left at the crack of dawn to get Dad to the airport; Ang and I closed up the cabin and managed the kids. Strong women!
My mom would have so enjoyed to be a part of this. Her family - her husband, her kids, their spouses, her grandkids. She would have done a better job at planning events than we do! She would have LOVED events like this! I miss you mom!
That brought tears to my eyes. Mom's are the best!
